Firefox Maintains Support for uBlock Origin

Mozilla's browser stands alone among major software options by keeping compatibility with the popular ad-blocker.

Added 8/15/2026

Mozilla recently confirmed on social media that its commitment to the uBlock Origin extension remains firmly in place. According to PCWorld, this announcement arrives as other major software platforms begin restricting access to older extension frameworks.

Microsoft Edge is preparing to transition to a newer system architecture that prevents traditional ad-blocking tools from functioning correctly. Because Microsoft Edge relies on the Chromium browser engine, it is following a path previously set by Google for its own software.

As the shift toward newer browser frameworks continues across the industry, non-Chromium options face varying compatibility standards. With Safari and DuckDuckGo also lacking compatibility, Firefox is now the final major browser to preserve full support for uBlock Origin.
