Discord Increases Free File Upload Limit to 20MB
The messaging application has doubled the file upload capacity for non-paying users.

According to Dexerto, free accounts can now share files up to 20MB in size, which is an increase from the previous 10MB restriction put in place in 2024. Although this update does not fully restore the earlier 25MB threshold, it grants standard users double the capacity for sending videos, images, and documents.
Alongside the capacity adjustment, the platform updated its mobile application to evaluate file sizes prior to compression rather than afterward. This modification brings mobile functionality into alignment with the existing desktop system.
