Prior to the recovery of two leg bones near Taiwan, researchers had only uncovered teeth, jaw pieces, and a skull belonging to the enigmatic Denisovans, leaving their post-cranial anatomy largely unknown. As reported by ZME Science, a preprint analysis reveals that these individuals possessed an impressive physical scale, with one potentially reaching 1.9 meters in height and weighing approximately 91 kilograms.

Led by Yousuke Kaifu, Chun-Hsiang Chang, and their team, the research shows that these two probable males towered over contemporary Homo sapiens from the same region. These unprecedented limb remains provide researchers with vital clues regarding the physical stature and lifestyle of this ancient human branch.
