New Blood Test Identifies High-Risk Colorectal Polyps
An international trial demonstrates that an experimental blood test can successfully locate dangerous precancerous lesions and certain stages of cancer.

A recent international trial involving over 1,500 adults evaluated an experimental blood test's ability to locate advanced adenomas, which are high-risk colorectal growths capable of turning into cancer. According to Research Today, the evaluation revealed the screening method successfully identified 81% of these dangerous precancerous lesions.
In addition to finding high-risk polyps, the diagnostic tool successfully spotted approximately 92% of colorectal cancers ranging from stage I to stage III. The procedure also correctly recognized roughly 85% of individuals who did not possess advanced precancerous growths, with the complete findings appearing in The Lancet Gastroenterology & Hepatology.
Identifying these abnormal growths prior to malignancy has historically proven more difficult than detecting actual cancer in blood samples, making the ability to spot advanced adenomas a significant development.
